Tia's ideal home
Tia is a 1-year, 9-month-old Retriever x Border Collie with a heart full of affection and a brain that thrives on activity. She’s looking for an experienced, active home where she’ll have plenty of opportunities for exercise, play, and ongoing training. With her collie smarts and retriever enthusiasm, Tia will suit owners who enjoy keeping their dog mentally and physically stimulated. Tia would love a secure, enclosed garden (ideally with 6ft fencing),as she enjoys the outdoors and has been known to try her luck at escaping when not given proper outlets for her energy. She could potentially live with another friendly dog, as she’s polite and social with other dogs when properly introduced, although would prefer a home with no cats or other small animals. Tia is best suited to a home with older children (secondary school age+) who can help channel her energy into fun and structured interaction. Her ideal family will set clear, consistent boundaries, offer lots of positive reinforcement, and embrace her playful, people-loving personality.
Could you be Tia's perfect match?
Tia is a sweet, lively, and affectionate girl who absolutely loves people. She’ll happily seek out attention with enthusiastic tail wags, paws, and kisses—but once she knows the routine, she settles well. Her friendly nature extends to strangers and vet staff alike, and she’s tolerant of handling, grooming, and full vet exams. She’s energetic and curious, always eager to explore the world around her. On the lead, she usually walks without pulling but does zigzag a little as she takes everything in. Her recall is developing well but can be hit-or-miss when she’s distracted, so she’ll benefit from continued training and supervision, she should only be let off-lead in secured and enclosed spaces. True to her breed mix, Tia is clever and eager to learn. She responds beautifully to positive reinforcement, especially when treats are involved. She enjoys interactive games and will thrive with puzzle feeders, obedience work, and plenty of enrichment. She’s used to short periods on her own and settles well with structure. She also travels well in the car and has previously stayed in kennels without concern. Tia has lived with dogs in the past and tends to be playful and sometimes submissive, making her a good fit for homes with another calm and sociable dog. However, she will need a cat-free home, as her natural chase instincts are triggered by smaller animals like rabbits or birds. If you’re looking for a bright, affectionate, and playful companion, Tia is a wonderful match. With the right structure, stimulation, and space, she’ll reward her family with loyalty, fun, and endless enthusiasm for life.
